Joanna Peck, Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider Designation, earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology at the University of Virginia’s college at Wise. She then began actively pursuing her career in mental health with case management working with individuals with intellectual disability in the Appalachia area. In 2017, Joanna graduated with a Master of Education in mental health counseling from Lincoln Memorial University. While in this program, she worked in a residential facility with children and adolescents with severe mental illness as well as a an addiction’s recovery center. After graduation, she worked directly with clients with addiction and acute mental illness. Joanna facilitated individual therapy, group, psychoeducational and recreational therapy groups daily. After completing requirements for full licensure in 2019, she worked in private practice. She has found a new home with Knoxville Mindful Wellness Center treating adults along with adolescents on a case by case basis. She works well with diverse populations utilizing a respectful and compassionate person-centered focus that allows her to work with individuals from varying backgrounds. Joanna’s current focus is working with adults with trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, and anxiety. Joanna has experience working with clients with addiction, LGBTQ+, codependency, personality disorders, couple and family conflicts, self-esteem issues and life transitions. She uses a multi-directional approach relying primarily on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and trauma therapies to address unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, developing tools to help manage major life stressors and practice mindfulness through meditation and self-care. Joanna is a dedicated clinician, passionate about the work she does. She is currently accepting new clients.
